Dock and Lock Grippers

Dock and Lock Grippers are used to provide precise centering and powerful clamping between the robot and the mold or the robot and a fixture. This is necessary, for example, when metal inserts must be placed in the mold before plastic injection. The gripper is mounted on the EOAT and the steel bushing on the mold or a fixture. After the robot approaches the mold, the gripper is pressurized so it closes and engages the bushing.

  • Used to limit force being applied to the robot arm.
  • Use in applications when excessive force is necessary to extract or insert parts into the mold.
  • Pressurized steel balls lock into the bushings.
  • Optional magnetic sensors available.
